Making light is a practice that should be followed daily, like that of a monk, or, less ascetically, like that of a patient and persistent detective, a Lighthunter
Pasquale Mari's research dedicated to imagery takes place on the boundary, continuously crossed in both directions, between cinema and theater.
This has been the case since the founding in Naples of the theatrical and cinematic work companies Falso Movimento and Teatri Uniti, along with directors Mario Martone, Antonio Neiwiller, and Toni Servillo.
In addition to being a collaborator on nearly all of Mario Martone's prose productions, Pasquale Mari has worked with authors and directors such as Carlo Cecchi, Andrea De Rosa, Valerio Binasco, Arturo Cirillo, and Filippo Dini, becoming a point of reference for their works. In the musical field, he has worked with Avion Travel, Ivano Fossati, and the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, and designed the lighting for several shows by the Balletto Civile dance company.
Among the most significant cinematic experiences, we recall: Il verificatore by Stefano Incerti (David di Donatello for best debut film), Il bagno turco and Le Fate Ignoranti by Ferzan Ozpetek, Teatro di Guerra by Mario Martone (nominated for best cinematography at the David di Donatello), L'uomo in più by Paolo Sorrentino, Renzo e Lucia and Lezioni di Volo by Francesca Archibugi, Placido Rizzotto by Pasquale Scimeca, L'ora di religione and Buongiorno, Notte by Marco Bellocchio.

Orlando's light is the white light of the sky on a radiant morning.
Orlando's light is the white light of writing paper, before you begin.
These thoughts guided the placement of the cluster of spotlights, among which rises the sturdy trunk of a leafless tree, as poetically designed by Giuseppe Stellato. Indeed, they represent both the foliage and the
sky under which Orlando, Virginia, Anna, and their absorbed audience stand.
I like to think that all that white light condenses and reaches the ground, transforming into paper, into many white sheets waiting for words to turn into signs. Once again, the light is summoned to testify and make possible the transformation of abstraction on the stage into a reality to be inhabited.
